I've read many books about the Amish. I love reading about their devotion to God and to their families. I was especially intrigued with the story about Naomi and Matthew. Ms. Fisher used a most interesting, rare slant on their friendship. The books were refreshing, inspirational, and very interesting. I do enjoy reading books that are clean and free from worldly ungodly morals. Add to that the continuation, through each book, of various family members (namely 3 daughters and a friend of theirs) and how God's will was fulfilled in their lives; and, it's amazing reading material!
This was a very enjoyable and entertaining series to read. These stories center around three women who are all bridesmaids in a wedding and how they all met men they fell in love with at the wedding. Each story is told in third person but from the point of view of each of the women. So in one story a character sees or hears something and in the next story that same event is explained from the other woman's viewpoint. It's clever how some of the same events are intertwined and described differently.
The Amish way of life is interesting to many people and little understood. What we see and hear in the media these days doesn't necessarily truly reflect the beliefs and culture that they live by. These books help to make that way of life clearer to those of us who have not experienced it.
The author describes the love and longing the characters feel for each other. These books are love stories, surrounded by the culture and beliefs of the Amish people. They are well written and entertaining.
I would recommend them to my family and friends.
It was a nice story for a reader of 12 or 13 years old.
